VNR VJIET Foundation Day

Vallurupalli Nageswar Rao Vignana Jyothi Institute of Engineering and Technology...oooph that was a big name....happened to be started on this very day 13 years ago....ie,11th September 2008.
As a result, the college celebrated it's foundation day by organising a speech by Dr.D.Subramaniam(with a huge list of qualifications...) who happens to be working with the Research and Development of L.V.Prasad Eye Institute...on the topic "20 Basic ideas in Science"....which "fortunately" coincided with the headlines of the day regarding the Big Bang experiment in the Alps Mountains of Switzerland....lucky fellow...
the stage supposedly was occupied by 5 white-haired wisebeards....but a few of their "sense of humour and vigor" deceived their age:-)....initially there was a lamp-lighting session-a tradition occurring for the "first" time in the college....and then there was the the "Vande Mataram" song...and luckily/fortunately the auditorium was filled...donno wat made the students so sincere....that too at VNR..and moreover...only final years were called for the address.....
there were a number of speeches by these "dignitaries"..very vividly expected....which was followed by an award distributing event to the meritorious students of the staff....then came the actual lecture which one and all were "eagerly" waiting for....
he had started off well with a gesture on the principal regarding a cell phone which set the entire audience applauding...beginning with a reference from the newspaper headline.....then he proceeded to proton,nucleus....and actually did pretty well in explaining the elementary theories starting from newton's laws of motion to laws in thermodynamics...then there was a transition to biology....biotechnology...where there came a reference to the IT field....and then genes and chromosomes...a reference to CCMB,come on he works there...and then the theory of evolution...i remembered i had been a chimpanzee but he added i had been actually been a dog and a horse as well...oh god!!!and then it became boring....awfully...and many of them dozed off....and those wide awake were still in a dilemma as to where were the 20 ideas they were there for...well on the whole....the staff and other "VIP"s enjoyed a sumptuous lunch courtesy of the college....oh boy...not bad for a first time...let's see what's in store for next year...

Team NBA sucks....

Team NBA ....

The long awaited NBA team had arrived in the college.
...thanks to their arrival that conspicuous changes are being literally visible
in the college campus....this is the second time they were invited in the college
since 2005....last year when they arrived, improvements include re-carpetting of the roads, inauguration of the sports complex....implementing the id cards.....and other minor but effective changes.....and for this year, improvements include installation of elevators...both in M.tech and b.tech blocks.....while the b.tech one is functional....the m.tech one isstill under installation.....most importantly AXIS bank ATM ornates the cellar brightly...however with no activity...the placement cell is re-furnished.....and several other "chote-mote" things.....but truly....the past 3 days were really hectic for the staff...as the management was eagerly and desperate for the accreditation.......the entire college was brought to life....colourful flags, banners and even several signboards with the names of the distinguished panel.....dotted along the span of the road leading to the bldg from the main gate...and finally.....coming to the part where team nba interacted with the students,it was not at all fruitful...they asked what we were lagging but we could not bring out anything ....that angered the "distinguished" panel.....but what made the students totally unresponsive was the fact that they compared us with the IIT,and talked over futile and trivial issues....
well on the whole...the management is really positive about the whole "thing"
so.....let's hope for the best....

Farewell

The time had arrived and gone.....no one knew how 4 years (for the seniors) and 3 years(with junior interaction) had passed by.....all those long-lasting memories and sweet cherished moments were captured appropriately in the mesmerizing evening of 11th April,2008.....it was all the untiring efforts put in by all the members of the newly formed IT Association and of course several other voluntary members.....there were many last minute twists...but the event must go on and it did ...quite to the satisfaction of many of the faculty.....highlight of the evening was the anchor who put in that extra effort to add life to the then dull atmosphere in the auditorium.....none of the first years turned up...fear of ragging...and many of the seniors were still making their entry......the Audi sprung into life with the first game called "Bomb in the city" which actively involved the 4th years and most of the faculty......and thanks to the demo round.....many more students participated in it.....and the no. of rounds unexpectedly rose to around 12.....good response indeed.....and then the speeches and friendliness of the faculty allowed a feeling of "closeness" between the outgoing batch and the staff present......an good show was put up by the 1st years...and refreshments at their seats was something to relish.......distributing mementos was boring.....but the presentation with just the 4th year students' names' actually excited the lot...unexpectedly......and the photos display of their past memories was also worth mention....and to top it all.....the eye-candy of the evening was the scintillating performance by the third years....which everyone was awaiting.....followed by the anchor's involvement......caused the whole auditorium to bustle with activity.....this encouraged the seniors also to perform and they did so with much fervour and enthusiasm.....actually 4th years performances were really cool and stunning in fact....and then....the titles were distributed and it was time for the photo session.....the student coordinator asked for a group photo and then everyone bid adieu to everyone else..as if the 25 days which were still left were already gone!!!!!!!!

Well...on the whole ....there was no major problem whatsoever and the event went on gracefully....

Corn Removal....Painless Indeed

well.....for those of you who have no idea of a corn...it is typically a growth of dead tissue inside the skin due to which a sensation of pain is developed when something hard hits it.It generally affects those parts of the body where much pressure is applied in our daily routine......but don't surprise yourself if it comes on your palms or on the centre of your sole(which never touches the ground)....because it might be due to some sudden act of immense, instant pressure....like pricking a thorn, stepping on blunt pieces of scrap...etc. which may also cause this corn.It is immense painful only if something hits it ie pressure is put on it ,otherwise it is painless......in the initial stages...up to 3 months....it is quite minor and the pain is not so great....it can be removed then by a process called 'cauterisation' where they burn out the affected region....which is quite small at this stage....and let it cure at it's own pace.....this is a painless procedure...but detecting a corn at this stage is quite difficult to the patient, though doctors can detect it......but what is the use when the patient is least suspicious about the same.....and suppose we leave it...it grows ie,kills more dead tissues surrounding it,thus giving more pain, making it felt enough for some necessary medical action.....if the corn has grown big enough,it can no longer be cauterised but only surgically removed.....here they cut the affected region and remove the corn growths by hand....then they stitch the skin and allow it to cure for a period of 7 days when the stitches are removed....so much for the negligence!!!!!but the surgery is painless as anaesthesia is given and lasts only for 15 minutes.....the total surgery along with the stitches....so much for a foolish corn....is a general thought but be advised...if ignored,it can be infectious and spread to other nearby regions too.....don't take it to such an extent.....and also,it is not like other surgeries and there is no need to fear about it....there are no complications involved either....unless being a diabetes patient of some sort.....and so on...so feel free and BE CAREFUL!!!!

Convergence and Sintillashunz of VNRVJIET

sintillashunz and convergence have proved to be successful in their own unique manner......thanks to cooperation from all sides.....the events would have been a greater hit had they not clashed with similiar events being conducted by other colleges like MGIT,Vasavi....etc. this resulted in the ardent spectators to make a choice--as entry fee, stage organization..etc. are more or less similar....but truly....bombay rockers at sintillashunz rocked the place--well at least to some extent---though they could not get the entire crowd on their feets.....pritam at nirvana also suffered from similar issues.....this just indicates that stage shows must be done by even better personalities.....last year's sintillashunz had sonu nigam rocking the place, and Griet's PULSE was no less......it just appears like the youth of hyderabad are undergoing a metamorphosis that is greatly affecting the nature and outcome of these shows...but sponsors are not deterring from this area as the exposure is in great volumes....a fact which can't be denied....

the technical fest saw good participation from various colleges and institutes......convergence had incorporated several new events in it's 3-day fest---much to the satisfaction of it's participants...and organizers.however convergence did suffer as the expected participation was not reached...in spite of several new exciting events, head count didn't vary much as that of last year's.....but the websites did improve greatly(thanks to Flash/Photoshop).....it was a really hectic time for the organizers, team leads, faculty too as these 5 days did have a lot of things happening for the students of VNR.....convergence,annual day, sintillashunz, rock band competition, valedictory function.....it was like once and for all....well now back to class work..."let's face the harsh realities of life"

to add.....the core team hosted a party in regard to the success of Convergence2k8 for all the team leads and organisers at Indijoe's,City Centre,Banjara Hills.......this is just another good way of inspiring people to take active part and make the "best" event even "better"....

What exactly is "blogging"......

Well.....to define the word 'Blogging'.....let me present a global perspective on this field of communication......i strongly think the blogging is more based on individual interests...highly informal....no rules as such..apart from meeting basic standards of etiquette.....and is highly taste-specific......there is no particular topic to blog on.....one can talk abt one's daily life...one's hobbies.....one's likes/dislikes.....some topic of discussion....current affairs...debate....express an opinion...it is more like a group discussion on the WWW......moreover...it is a way of bringing like-minded people together....as the saying goes...'Birds of a feather flock together".....depending on the blog site being used...the features provided by each varies and so the appropriate site must be taken.....a blog is more like a forum ..a single-person forum.....and a blog must be always updated to keep it's viewers updated....it also serves as a medium of strong public opinion...a tool of great advantage in the future....it is the age of Blogging......so let's start BLOGGING!!!!!
P.S-the extent of blogging must be controlled...as illustrated!!!!!

u'va 2008

U'VA 2008

At wesley college grounds in the city......life was brimming to activity as POPKORN along with ARRAYNZ arranged a rock band competition followed by a fashion show contest....which was later topped up by an open air disco by DJ Karl. The event was a whooping success as it is among the first time for several hyderabadis...the culture is yet to sink into these denizens......it was indeed a really good effort on part of the organisers and the managers.....an effort well paid....and to add to all this was the publicity the event got afterwards...all the leading newspapers talked about the show in their papers with photos of various winners.....Deccan Chronicle....Times Of India....Eenadu...to name a few......and a whooping 5-minute slot on NTV in a prime slot speaks volumes about the event's good outcome...many of the participants were from engineering colleges....had the event been preponed a bit....intermediate lads could have been expected....now as their exams are on that crowd went missing.....the winners of the fashion show were a team from St.Francis....their theme concerned with Casinos...etc....there was sufficient parking but the rock bands did suffer with Sound systems....and overall poor time management was one drawback of the event....but an entry ticket of only Rs.100 per head was a small amount....considering the class of people expected....but still we can call the event an overall success.....
Well...to conclude.....hyderabad is in no dearth of 'glam' dolls...atleast for the present...
